Hi, my name is Damian, I specialize in shooting relaxed portraits, capturing natural images and creating lasting memories of those special moments.
I'm based in Birmingham, England but I shoot all over the country and occasionally further afield.
This site takes you through my professional and personal life as a photographer. Take a look around, let me know what you like, and get in touch to book me!
ps. That's me at the launch of my 3 month major exhibition in 2009 ---►
Had a bunch of my first portraits from the mid 90s, college and uni years, scanned in… thought I’d share… Including a shot from the very first portrait session I shot, still a favourite… Look out for that shot of Rebekah, now a well known DJ, check her on facebook!
P.s There is a self portrait of yours truly… strangely avatar inspired…
Here are few photographs from a talent show last Saturday at Rubery Social Club in Birmingham.
Gig photography can be a challenge out in the field, usually you can’t use flash so you rely on fast lenses and hi iso. A lot of big gigs will have great lighting making it a bit easier. Usually only a photographer will notice the subtle differences though… And it makes it extra challenging and fun when the lighting isn’t quite ideal! The hi iso abilities of the newer digital slr’s can really help and did help me… but who wants to upgrade my two nikon bodies?
Many of you that check out my facebook page have probably already had a chance to look at these photographs of my latest book, documenting all 57 images and artists from the recent exhibition and on going portrait photography project I have but I thought it’d be good to get a slideshow up for my new visitors too! A little information first:
The book itself is 96 pages, images and text documenting the artists featured in the Strong Brum project that was funded by Birmingham City Council and commissioned by The Drum, where it was exhibited between September and December 2009, thanks to Mukhtar Dar.
The book itself is bookstore-quality with a hardcover, professionally printed and featuring a durable matte finish and library binding.
Here’s a slideshow of the images that didn’t quite make the exhibition for the BirmingStrong show at the Drum but that I still think are awesome. Believe me, it was tough deciding which to use in the exhibition for many of these. All 57 portrait shoots were good fun, great experience all round. Enjoy a few of the images that weren’t on show, but deserved to be:
