New York City – My Personal N.Y. State of Mind

Not that I have anything against Alicia Keys … not at all 😉 … But as soon as the plane touched down at JFK, you can guess what song came through the speakers in Upper Class and yep, guess what song was piped through when I returned to Heathrow as well!

So with the Empire State of Mind in mind, here’s a set of images taken by me in tourist mode, taken with my Canon G10, a very capable little camera in my collection that has seen some serious travel photography action in the last 12 months! Afterwards, hit the travel category to see what I mean!

NYC for me was a good opportunity to see friends and see so much that I’d learnt about in music and films growing up, as well as getting some work done of course, these trips don’t come  for free! Well.. when someone pays your flights it’s always a privilege to jump at.  Anyway… here goes… a “few” from the set. And the keen eyed amongst you will catch a few images with yours truly ruining the view!

The entire set of photos from my trip can be found on my personal facebook page, add me, say hi and if you like anything then let me know! Many of the images are available as canvas or mounted prints too if you’re looking to inject some new life into your office or home walls!

Portrait Photography in Birmingham – Mad Flow | Hip Hop Veteran

One of the artists from Birmingham that I photographed for the recent Strong Brum project (exhibited for three months at the Drum under the title  “BirminStrong“) is a hip hop veteran, beatbox and freestyle maestro that I’m proud to know very well.. Mad Flow

His new single taster was released today and can be downloaded for free at this link  “MadPrickly – Who’s This feat DJ Kingstun”

The cover shot was by me, it has been edited by the graphic designer … Let me tell you briefly about the shoot though… When we finally got together for the shoot, it was going dark.. no problem… but it was raining real bad… ok.. should be fun… SO we gave it a go! Good job my gear is weatherproof and that Flow is a “soldier” … Worked well for the exhibition and for the cover… Check out a few highlights.. Prepare for grit, bonus brownie points if you can tell me where we shot these! Leave a comment below!

Portrait Photography from the Mid 90s!

Had a bunch of my first portraits from the mid 90s, college and uni years, scanned in… thought I’d share… Including a shot from the very first portrait session I shot, still a favourite… Look out for that shot of Rebekah, now a well known DJ, check her on facebook!

P.s There is a self portrait of yours truly… strangely avatar inspired…
